At its debut appearance at Europe’s largest innovation fair, VivaTech, Yiri (AGL’s innovation centre) announced a new strategic partnership with Digital Africa to support transport, logistics and industrial startups across the continent. By combining their respective expertise and networks in the African entrepreneurial ecosystem, the two organizations aim to build on the successful first year of Yiri’s flagship Accelerate programme to ensure it becomes a catalyst for continental growth through local, high-impact, and innovative solutions.

Breakthrough Outcomes From the First Accelerate Programme

Established in Abidjan in June of 2024, Yiri has quickly become known as a reliable partner in the African innovation space. The first edition of its Accelerate programme launched in November 2024 welcoming four African startups, each of which received customized support, specialized training and access to a network of over 32 companies, institutions and investors.

Additionally, the participating startups were able to benefit from opportunities for pilot projects within AGL Group that led to tangible results, including:

  • The Alia Solution: deployment of a digital legal assistant with the ability to simplify compliance for the HR and legal teams of 5 AGL subsidiaries located in Côte d’Ivoire
  • Commercial Partnerships with Eazy Chain: through a new collaboration with AGL, Eazy Chain will roll out its digital solution to facilitate maritime logistics across West Africa’s secondary and major ports
  • Paps Collaboration: a collaboration in local distribution and last-mile logistics to support AGL operations in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso
  • An Extension of Tambour’s Services: providing mobile laundry services to AGL subsidiaries in Côte d’Ivoire for improved management of employee equipment.

An Expanded Second Edition of the Accelerate Programme

Yiri’s new partnership with Digital Africa builds on the momentum of the Accelerate programme's early success. Digital Africa has a strong record of backing high-potential African entrepreneurs via personalized technical support and financing through the Fuzé programme.

Now, the second, more ambitious edition of the Accelerate will see the two organizations extend the programme to both West and East Africa, with two innovation challenges slated for Côte d’Ivoire and Rwanda. These challenges will consist of ten selected startups that the programme will support and potentially co-invest in.

AGL and Digital Africa: A New Era in African Innovation

This partnership marks a significant new chapter in AGL’s ongoing pursuit to drive transformation across Africa. By joining forces with Digital Africa, AGL seeks to accelerate the emergence of local solutions capable of addressing Africa’s logistics and industrial challenges while bolstering the continent’s position as an emerging global hub for technology and innovation.

Reflecting on their shared goal, Stéphane Collet-Manent, CIO of AGL, remarked: “This partnership with Digital Africa allows us to take a step forward in our mission to support African startups. Together, we want to bring out concrete solutions, adapted to local realities, and thus contribute to the sustainable transformation of the continent.”
